So as usual I have been slacking in the post department this past month! I feel that I do have a few excuses such as spending seven out of the past fourteen days in Boston getting our former residence (and most recently our first rental property) ready to go on the market. We are especially grateful to the Smith Grandparents and Grandma Waskey for coming to stay with Julie while I was up in Boston. I am excited to say that at least all of the hard work was worth it as the place looks great and the realtor was so impressed that we actually increased the asking price from what we had originally been shooting for.
As for the kiddos - they are doing awesome and almost every day they do something different to amaze us. While it has been a few weeks since the last doctor's appointment, their weights at the time were:
Ryan - 12 lbs, 4 oz
Nadia - 8 lbs, 11 oz
Drew - 9 lbs, 10 oz
They have clearly gained a bit more weight since that appointment and we will post updated weights after their four month appointment at the end of the month. Can you believe that they are actually FOUR MONTHS OLD!! I am still not used to the fact that we have 3 kids yet and now the pediatrician is talking about solid foods....CRAZY!
In addition to the increase in their size, all three kids have really started to interact with us in different ways. Ryan is extremely vocal and loves to smile and laugh...right up to the point that he starts to scream. It is actually difficult to feed him sometimes now because he will get halfway through his bottle and then decide that he just wants to smile and play while we try to avoid eye contact so that he will keep eating.
Andrew is pretty mellow but he occasionally gets into a playful mood and will smile at you which somehow makes him even cuter than he was. Recently he has really liked laying on the floor on his play mat while looking up at the hanging animals.
In the past week Nadia has started to make cute noises and give us the occasional smile. Nadia has also started early intervention therapy that mainly consists of some physical therapy exercises that we do with her a couple times a day. We are not really sure if the exercises are necessary though since she is the most active of the triplets and is the only one to flip from her stomach to her back so far. She also LOVES to stand up in your lap or on the floor which has us wondering if she will beat the boys to standing on her own (even though she should be several months behind them). Nadia has also had follow up hearing and vision appointments and everything appears to be normal except for slightly below normal hearing in one of her ears. We still do not have much information to offer about her heart surgery as the cardiologists are still discussing how and when they want to do it.
The biggest development that has occurred since the last blog post is that the triplets now only get up once during the night! They have actually been on a one night feeding schedule for almost a month now. While it was a bit rough going when we first tried it, the triplets have adapted well and we actually get almost seven whole hours of sleep now!! We have also transitioned to a more regulated nap schedule during the day which has really helped Julie get some quiet time during the day.
We have continued to receive (and are very grateful for) help from our church, coworkers, neighbor Jordan and the local multiples group. We are also in the process of hiring a helper for a few hours during the week to allow Julie to have a break and so that we can go out on date nights. Hopefully by the next time that I post we will have made a decision on who to hire as there are several candidates right now.
Well I know that you all would probably like to see some pictures so without further adieu, here are some of the best photos from the past few weeks.
