Nadia
Unfortunately we have experienced a minor setback with Miss Nadia. Just as she had gotten up to eating the full amount of food at each feeding (based on her weight), she developed an infection which is fairly common in premature babies. Therefore she has been on antibiotics and IV fluids for a couple days and will not be getting fed any formula for another week. Although she is not getting any real "food", Nadia continues to gain some weight thanks to the fortified fluids that she receives through her IV. The doctors and nurses have been very pleased with her progress and hopefully once she beats this infection she will be right back on track with her feedings. Her weight as of last night was 3lbs 14ozs.

Nadia loves to turn herself sideways in her isollette. The nurses think its hilarious.
Mom and Nadia do some "Kangaroo Care" skin to skin cuddling.
Despite all the wires and sensors, Nadia still manages to display some dramatic poses.

Ryan
Ryan continues to lead the "get me the heck out of this hospital" race and is on pace to be home for Christmas. Ryan has gained quite a bit of weight and is up to 4lbs 5ozs. Ryan is also the first of the trio to exhibit "on demand" feeding (ie. he screams his head off when he is hungry). Rumor has it that Ryan may graduate to an open crib next week which is the last step before coming home!

Andrew
Our little guy is chugging along. A couple days ago they decided to put him back on tube feedings for some of his meals because he was getting tuckered out while eating from a bottle at every meal. It seems that it was probably a good decision because now that he has had a couple extra days to grow he is taking bottles much better and is slowly transitioning back to bottle only feeds. He is also staring to literally devour his bottle when he is hungry which is encouraging. Andrew has also gained a lot of weight over the past couple days and is now at 3lbs 9ozs. Most notable about Andrew is that although he is the smallest of the triplets, he has the most "dynamic" poops of the three. The other day they literally had to swap out his isollette because he had such a huge blowout. It was priceless.

Like his sister, Andrew also likes to wiggle around a lot so he has to be "strapped in" to sleep :)
So much hair!
During the week we also had the opportunity to get the two boys out next to each other. I was really cute seeing them together. I will try to post more pictures at the end of the week so make sure you check back!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful BEAUTIFUL babies!!! I cannot get over how tiny and adorable they all are. Thanks for the updates - praying for Miss Nadia to recover from her infection if she hasn't already. So happy that Ryan is home now!! Congratulations again and much love to your sweet family of 5!! <3
