Hospital Away From Home

Ring....ring....ring....that is the sound that our phones have been making constantly over the past few days so I guess that means it is time to update everyone on what is going on here in VA.  Most of you know by now that Julie was readmitted to the hospital on Monday (the 14th) and has been here ever since.  At first we weren't sure if Julie would be staying until she delivered or if she would be sent home but now we now that she is here until the trips finally arrive.

The main issue that has been causing some concern amongst the doctors has been a low plattelet count in Julie's blood samples.  While we have received several different explanations about the seriousness of the situation, we met with one of the main doctors yesterday and are confident that they are keeping a close eye on the situation and that if need be they will take the appropriate action. 



Julie's Home Away From Home

The goal right now is to make it to 34 weeks which is the 29th.  In fact Julie has actually been put on the schedule that day to deliver the babies!  While we are excited to finally have a date (and that Julie made it to 34 weeks), we are also crossing our fingers that nothing happens between now and then to speed up the process.  The doctor explained to us that each day that the babies can stay in the incubator (er..Julie) is like saving two days in the NICU.  Therefore if we can make it one more week it could save us two weeks in the NICU.

To her credit Julie is taking this whole thing pretty well but is getting a bit ancy.  Today I was allowed to take her outside in a wheel chair which felt like I had broken her out of jail.  We thank you all for your continued prayers and concerns and we will do out best to keep you updated over the next week.  We appreciate the calls and texts but please don't be offended if we don't reply right away (or at all) as Julie is trying hard to get some rest in between the various tests, monitoring and checkups and I'm fairly occupied with preparing for trial (which also starts on the 29th - and don't worry, I'll be at the hospital, not the courthouse on that day!).  The countdown has begun!!
